Healthy students are better prepared to learn. Illinois requires certain physical examinations, immunizations, dental examinations, and vision examinations at designated grade levels. Click here to view the requirements. School nurses also support students with medications, chronic health conditions, injuries, and other health needs during the school day. The nurse's office is located near the main office and is staffed during the school day by a Registered Nurse (RN) who is certified in First Aid and CPR/AED. The District has two Certified School Nurses (CSN) who oversee our health services.
Families are responsible for submitting required health documentation by established deadlines and keeping emergency and health information current. Parents/guardians should notify the school nurse of significant health conditions or medications that may affect the student during school. If your child has a health concern and will be participating in an after-school activity or sport, it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the adult in charge of the activity. Epinephrine auto-injectors, inhalers, and other medications provided for nurse's use are not available for after-school activities and sports. The nurse's office is staffed only during the school day and is required to be locked before and after school day hours.
If your child is ill or tests positive for COVID, please keep them at home until they are feeling better. Make sure to follow these guidelines for return to class:
Follow medical advice from your doctor.
Symptoms must be improving.
Students must be fever-free (<100.4) for 24 hours without medication.
If a doctor’s note is needed, please make a copy for your building.
Contact your student's school nurse with questions regarding health requirements, medications, medical accommodations or student health concerns. Districtwide health requirements and forms are available through the Health Services webpage.
