Superintendent

Ronald “Terrell” Yarbrough has served as superintendent of Harlem School District 122 since 2021, leading a district of more than 6,000 students across 11 schools with a focus on steady growth and strong student outcomes. During his tenure, he has worked to strengthen academic programs, expand opportunities for students, and ensure the district is positioned to meet both current and future needs.

Under his leadership, the district has seen improvements in graduation rates, attendance, and on-track metrics, along with expanded access to Advanced Placement, Career and Technical Education (CTE), dual credit, and dual enrollment programs. He also played an instrumental role in advancing a major addition to the Harlem High School campus, creating new spaces for career and technical education opportunities and a healthcare facility for staff. 

Dr. Terrell Yarbrough has prioritized maintaining strong relationships with the Board of Education, working closely with board members to ensure clear communication, alignment on district goals, and a shared commitment to accountability. He regularly supports board development and guides both the superintendent and board evaluation processes.

He is also active in the broader community, building strong partnerships with local leaders and organizations and serving as a spokesperson for the district. His involvement in regional and statewide efforts reflects his commitment to public education beyond Harlem.

Before becoming superintendent, he served in several leadership roles within the district, including principal of Harlem High School, where he led efforts to expand student supports and improve academic outcomes. His career also includes experience as an adjunct professor at Aurora University and a variety of teaching and administrative roles in Milwaukee and Beloit, Wisconsin. 

Dr. Yarbrough holds a Doctorate from Aurora University and has earned multiple credentials in educational leadership. He remains committed to continuous learning and to creating opportunities that support both students and staff.
