Harlem School District uses multiple measures to understand student learning, communicate progress and guide instruction. Classroom assessments may be formative, providing feedback during learning, or summative, measuring learning after a unit or course of study. Students also participate in required State and District assessments. Grades and other measures of progress help students, families and staff identify strengths, areas for growth and next steps in learning.
Students are expected to complete assignments and assessments to the best of their ability and follow expectations for academic integrity. Families are encouraged to regularly review student progress and communicate with teachers when questions arise.
Questions about individual assignments, grades or classroom assessments should first be directed to the classroom teacher. Questions regarding report cards, promotion, retention, course credit or other academic requirements may be directed to the school principal or counselor. Families may monitor student progress through Skyward Family Access.
