The PERA (Performance Evaluation Reform Act) Committee met last week and voted to remove student growth from a teacher's summative performance evaluation rating. As a result, ratings will be determined by professional practice, and you will no longer need to submit a Student Learning Objective (SLO) as part of the evaluation. While i-Ready and common assessments will continue to be used to support instruction and monitor student progress, you will not be required to write goals based on them.
We will also be transitioning to the updated version of the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Starting this school year, all certified staff will use the same evaluation rubric, and all components of the updated framework will be included in the evaluation process. Throughout the year, we’ll revisit whether there’s a need to create specialized rubrics, similar to what’s been used in the past.
The updated evaluation rubric will be posted in Evaluwise and below soon. If you have any questions, please reach out to PERA@harlem122.org.
