The District is in the process of developing a profile of a graduate. In collaboration with the P20 Network of Northern Illinois University, District staff are beginning to identify and prioritize competencies students should have when they graduate.

Complete a vertical curriculum articulation of the learning standards in Social Studies and World Languages for grades 7-12. Completed
The social studies vertical articulation team met twice to plan social studies standards to support the sixth grade transitioning to the middle school. Next steps will be to investigate and evaluate curriculum resources to support the mapping of the state standards in grades 6 - 12.
Create an inventory of specialized instruction curriculum for students with IEPs. Completed
An inventory has been created and will continue to be updated as we work with promoting specific specialized curriculum to be utilized for instruction for students with disabilities.

Procedures are being tweaked as we continue to increase work-based learning opportunities. A working document has been created, and once the procedures are finalized, based on staff and student feedback, they will be posted to the College and Career Website.

Develop a plan for increased vocational opportunities for self-contained programs. Completed
In August of 2023, the Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab was installed at HHS and staff training was conducted. As a result, students at HHS have the opportunity to participate in experiences to develop practical skills such as taking public transportation, dining and other community-based activities. The Community program offers students business skills such as designing and processing t-shirts and a self-funded crafts and coffee store. The Life Skills program runs a recycling program that funds a Thanksgiving Feast. The Vocational program provides job activities within the school and continues to operate the Clothes Closet donation program.
