Alumni Spotlight: Erin Kramar, Class of 2001

Erin Kramar, Class of 2001, is using her education degree to work with a special group of students. Erin Kramar, Class of 2001, is using her education degree to work with a special group of students.

Kramar earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Grand Canyon University in 2015 and started working at GiGi’s Playhouse in Machesney Park in 2016. GiGi’s Playhouse specifically works with children and adults who have Down syndrome.

She joined as the GiGi University coordinator. GiGi U works with adults to develop their career and communications skills. In April of 2017, Kramar took over GiGi’s tutoring programs and was named education director.

GiGi’s Playhouse was started in Hoffman Estates in 2003 and now has locations in 43 U.S. cities and one in Mexico.


Kramar, who has five children, was a concert band member at Harlem as well as an active singer, taking part in Choraleers, Treble Choir as well as the Voices of Harlem.
