Staff Member Receives Multiple Honors

Gary Holmes


Harlem School District Transportation Staff Member had a very awarding summer. Gary Holmes a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2955 of Roscoe and the District Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Illinois District 6.

In June at the VFW of Illinois Convention in Springfield received the following honors earned at the state level:

The state of Illinois District Safety Award for having the most hours in recognizing Safety in Northwest Illinois and the District.

Gary then went on to receive the 2018-2019 Cramer-Soden Membership Award for the All-State District Commander with the highest membership increase over 2017-2018. Gary was named as the state of Illinois Recruiter of the year.

Gary also was named as an All-State Commander, along with being named as Captain of the All-State Team for 2018-2019.

Gary also received 2 Veterans of Foreign Wars Distinguished Service Awards for his work this past year for veterans across Northwest Illinois and his work in Membership.

At the end of June Veterans of Foreign Wars National announced the Post, District and Departments Commanders who earned the high honor of being All-American Commanders. Gary received this honor at the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Gary Holmes was named and awarded this honor of All-American District Commander for his dedication of service for the Veterans across Illinois District 6
