Harlem Math Team Competes at Regionals

Rock Valley College

On Saturday, February 23, the Harlem Math Team competed at Regionals.  This competition was held at Rock Valley College and Harlem competed as a division 4AA school – meaning against the biggest schools in the state.  In the Regional, Harlem placed 3rd overall. Harlem’s two-person Freshman-Sophomore Team of Seth Grasse and Oriana Gjini placed 3rd winning medals. This was a speed competition with high difficulty (Harlem hasn’t had a two-person team do this well in several years).  They also had two individuals place first and qualify for the State math contest. Finishing first in the region in Algebra 1 was freshman Seth Grasse. Zachary Mueller won first in the Pre-calculus category.  This means that Zachary has qualified as an individual competitor all four years of his high school career.  Congratulations Zachary on this amazing accomplishment.  Coaches Gupta, Hofbauer, and Munger are all incredibly proud of the entire Harlem Math Team.
