    Dear 4th, 5th and 6th Parents/Guardians,

Machesney Elementary is offering students the opportunity to participate in the Elementary General Music Festival (EGM) which will be hosted here in our school district for the again this year!  This day-long festival is offered by the Illinois Music Educators Association and will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017.  The festival is a wonderful experience as 4th,  5th and 6th grade students from all over northern Illinois will come together to learn and experience new songs and instruments. Students will be assigned to various ensembles and rehearse in that ensemble all day and perform that afternoon for all of the festival participants and their families.  Students may participate in one of the following ensembles:

    • Orff Ensemble (xylophone/recorders)
    • African Drumming
    • Children’s Choir
    • Creative Movement/ Folk Dancing
    • Ukulele
    • Recorders

The festival fee is $10.00 per student.  Please send the student’s participation fee to Machesney Elementary School attached to the completed permission slip. Permission slips and money must be returned by Friday, October 14, 2017.  The participating students’ registration forms must be turned into ILMEA on October 15th, no late registrations will be accepted.

Unfortunately, as there are many children involved and the ensembles fill up fast, every child may not get his/her first choice of ensemble.  We are asking that every child select at least three ensembles so that the directors can try to accommodate each student’s preference.

Please note that by signing the form below and returning the $10.00 participation fee, you are committing your child to attend the festival.  There are no refunds.  I am also looking for parents to chaperone for the day; if you are interested, please check the appropriate blank on the form below. More information will be sent home including meal information and concert time.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email or phone.
