Welcome to Machesney Elementary School! Machesney was established in August 1991 to provide educational choices for students in the Harlem School District. The Machesney School staff believes that the school should build upon student interests and unique abilities. As a result, the instructional activities and other programs assist students to become self-disciplined individuals, life-long learners and caring, contributing citizens. This magnet/neighborhood school houses four distinct instructional options and serves approximately 530 students in grades 4, 5 and 6.
Special Education programs provide a continuum of services for students with disabilities. Assistance is provided to students through self-contained classes, pull-out resource instruction, inclusion programs and mainstreaming.
