Ideas for your visual arts portfolio

• Draw a picture of your pet.  Color it with crayons.
• Draw a portrait of a family member with colored pencils.
• Use markers to create an underwater scene.
• Draw a castle.
• Use watercolor paint to create a butterfly.
• Create some space aliens with markers.
• Use crayons to draw the trees in your yard.
• Draw a scene from your favorite fairy tale.
• Make up a new design using just circles, squares and triangles.
• Design a postage stamp about something that you've studied in school.

Some hints to remember:

• Include 4 - 8 pieces of original artwork from this year.
• Include work that you have done in artclass as well as work that you have done at home.
• Include a variety of media and techniques.
• Take photos of 3-D work.
• Fit it all into a portfolio.
• Label the portfolio and each piece with your name, address, phone number, school and grade.
